Earthquake Hits Chile; BMA People ‘Okay’ (pg. 1)Brother Bill Gibson said: “We live on the tenth floor of an apartment building. We are a little shook up, but well. Our apartment building was built about five years ago and was built for this type of earthquake activity. We were about 200 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake. Our people are well. We have accounted for all of them.

Through The Flood, The Wind And The Fire (Chaplain Pearce, pg. 1)In the past seven years, my wife and I have lost most or everything we own three times. In 2003, we had in internal water line burst that caused our entire house to flood, destroying all of our furniture. In May 2008, the tornado that hit just north of Damascus took our house and the vast majority of what we owned. Then, on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 24, our house burned down, destroying everything once again. Yet through it all, no one has been injured and God has seen us through…
Editor’s Note: Those wishing to contribute to the Pearce family can do so through their church, First Baptist Church. P.O. Box 338, Damascus, AR 72039.
BMMI Team Visits Nicaragua (Jim Brewer, pg. 4)Part 1 of 2 — The 14 members of the Jan. 29–Feb. 6 BMMI trip to Nicaragua, led by Dr. John Ladd, had to “improvise” their flight schedules somewhat due to the weather, but they all made it there safely… Oscar and Tamy Gaitan, along with six-year-old Lydia, are the leaders of the mission work in Nicaragua. They oversee all the mission points the BMAA has there…
Parenting Your Child’s Mouth (Travis Plumlee, pg. 2)A parent can be embarrassed so quickly by their silver-tongued child who, out of nowhere, can rattle off a chain of offensive words. Hopefully, this is a rare occurrence where the child has picked up something somewhere out in the world, and you will have to correct them for it. In many other instances, the child is repeating something they have heard from someone else in the family, which is a double embarrassment. Either way, parents are supposed to teach and discipline their children about the words that come out of their mouths.
Is BMA A Non-Profit Organization? (Dr. Mike Harmon, pg. 8)Mailbox — If a person were to die and leave an estate of $1 million to the BMA of America, where should the money be mailed? The BMA of America does not have a headquarters or physical address. It does not have a banking account. It does not have a treasurer… Is it possible that the BMA of America only exists when the messengers of the cooperating churches meet for official business? Is it possible that the BMA of America is not a non-profit organization; but rather an association of like-minded Baptist churches with no official headquarters, banking account or treasurer? Perhaps some of the Trumpet readers can help me find the correct answers I am sincerely seeking.
Five Spiritual Laws Can Change Your Life (Maggie Chandler, pg. 6)Spiritual laws operate in much the same way as scientific laws, such as the law of gravity. What goes up must come down. You can’t change it. In the same way, if we make certain spiritual choices in life, we can expect certain outcomes. There are many spiritual principles, but here are just five that can change your life: Law Of Potentiality, Law Of Cause And Effect, Law Of Giving And Receiving, Law Of Opposites and Law Of Purpose.
Global Warming (Judy Wallace, pg. 6)If this last winter has been any indication of global warming, I’d hate to see global cooling!… Walk the walk. As you do be sure you are concerned about changing your life, habits, attitudes and the way you live. This isn’t to prevent the earth from melting away but instead to melt your heart and make it more pliable to the work of the Holy Spirit so, in turn, those around you can more readily sense God’s presence and be brought into the warm light of His love. Let the emissions of your life be peace, joy, love and kindness. Now that can bring about a true and godly global warming!
He Just Wanted To Talk (Johnmichael Poulin, pg. 8)Every three months we have to leave Peru so we can get our visas renewed. This time we decided to go to Granada, Nicaragua, which is one of the oldest towns in Nicaragua and has a lot of old buildings and things to see. It also has a number of beggars. We normally don’t give money to beggars and this time was not any different. Three teenage boys came up to us in the plaza and asked us for some money. I told them we wouldn’t give them money, but we did talk to them for a few minutes.
